How to read the Dia-Care label

Everything inside Dia-Care is printed on its carton. Here is how to read it.

The formula table

The table lists each ingredient per capsule, its amount, and its % RDA. For example, Zinc (from zinc sulphate) is 12 mg, or 70.59% of the RDA. Hintonia latiflora shows no % RDA, because an RDA has not been established for it.

What % RDA means

RDA stands for Recommended Dietary Allowance. On Dia-Care, % RDA is calculated on ICMR guidelines 2020.

INS numbers

The other ingredients are listed by INS number, the International Numbering System for food additives. Dia-Care lists a bulking agent INS 460(i), glidants INS 470(iii) and INS 553(iii), a glazing agent INS 464, a carrier INS 551 and a diluent INS 1405.

The green dot

The green dot in a green square is the vegetarian mark. Dia-Care uses a cellulose (HPMC) capsule shell.

FSSAI licence numbers

The pack carries two FSSAI licence numbers: 11526996000831 for the marketer, Cognisance Ventures Pvt. Ltd., and 12617005000062 for the manufacturer, Ishaanav Nutraceuticals Pvt. Ltd. You can look them up on FoSCoS.

Each 0.550 g capsule provides 1.087 kcal, 0.126 g carbohydrate, 0.043 g total fat, 0 g total sugar, 0 g protein, 0.098 g dietary fibre and 4.121 mg sodium.
